With a dual Group 1-winning race record and an elite pedigree, expectations were always high for Ole Kirk. As his second season of runners unfolds, the verdict is clear – he has delivered.
Quickly off the mark with his first crop, King Kirk announced Ole Kirk’s arrival at Black Type level with victory in the Group 3 ATC Breeders’ Plate and the momentum has continued since.
Now the sire of seven Stakes winners from his first two crops, including four Stakes-winning juveniles, Ole Kirk has established himself as the leading Second Season Sire by Stakes winners, delivering an impressive 6.9% Stakes winners-to-runners strike rate.
A statistic that eclipses some of the industry’s most established stallions at the same stage of their careers including Zoustar, I Am Invincible as well as Ole Kirk’s own sire, Written Tycoon.
Already the sire of four individual Group winners, his headline acts include Group 1 MRC Thousand Guineas winner Ole Dancer alongside Group 3 winners Legacy Bound, King Kirk and the promising Regal Award.
This season alone, Ole Kirk has produced seven Stakes performers, including three juveniles, laying the foundations for another successful spring campaign with a talented group set to return.
What is most exciting is that confidence in Ole Kirk extends well beyond the racetrack.
His progeny were highly sought after in the sales ring in 2026, averaging $290,000 across the two major yearling sales and grossing more than any other third-crop sire.
Perhaps most encouraging has been breeder confidence in the next generation.
In a market driven by supply and demand, mares in foal to Ole Kirk produced exceptional results at the Magic Millions Gold Coast National Broodmare Sale and Inglis Chairman’s Sale.
From only seven mares offered, six sold at an average exceeding $600,000, including standout results of $850,000, $800,000, $750,000 and $550,000.
Leading buyers including Bangaloe Stud, Glenlogan Park, Zhicheng Hao, Corumbene Stud/Vin Cox Bloodstock, Nick Vass Bloodstock and RIFA Mustang moved decisively to secure this select offering.
Demand continued through the weanling market, where Ole Kirk’s progeny sold to $400,000, with five lots achieving six-figure results.
Consistency is the hallmark of every successful sire and Ole Kirk has embodied exactly that since entering stud duties.
Covering an average of more than 160 mares each season, with some of his strongest books still to race, the benchmark appears set to climb even higher.
With the season approaching, opportunities to access a sire of this calibre are becoming limited.
A quality stallion with one of the most accomplished pedigrees in the Stud Book and performance now matching promise, Ole Kirk is shaping as a top ten sire in the making.
