All Too Hard continues to underline his influence on the Australian breeding and racing landscape, with the Vinery stallion producing Stakes winners across both ends of the spectrum in recent days.

Two black-type victories in as many days showcased the depth and versatility of his progeny. Promising juvenile Music Time captured the Black Opal Stakes, while the ever-consistent Arran Bay added further Stakes success when taking out the Listed CS Hayes Memorial Cup at Morphettville. Both are graduates of Vinery, adding to a growing list of Stakes performers bred and raised at the farm in recent weeks.

The Black Opal triumph may have even bigger implications for Music Time, with connections now weighing up potential autumn targets. Trainer Gratz Vella indicated the team is considering their options following the colt’s impressive performance, with the upcoming Golden Slipper nominations worth watching closely.

Two-Year-Olds Making an Impact

Music Time’s success continues a strong autumn for All Too Hard’s two-year-olds. Within the past few weeks alone, the stallion has produced multiple Stakes-winning juveniles, including Hard Kick, who delivered an impressive victory in the Listed Talindert Stakes at Flemington for the Lindsay Park team.

It’s a timely reminder of All Too Hard’s ability to produce elite talent of any age. A dual Group-winning juvenile himself and the Champion Australian Three-Year-Old Colt of 2012–13, he has consistently passed on his class and toughness to his progeny.

Industry Support Continues to Grow

The marketplace is increasingly recognising All Too Hard’s consistency.

Across the major Australasian yearling sales, his progeny averages have risen steadily in recent seasons as buyers continue to reward the stallion’s ability to produce tough, durable performers capable of competing at the highest level.

Sale 2026 Average 2025 Average
Magic Millions Gold Coast $238,571 $160,000
Inglis Premier $115,833 $76,000
Inglis Classic $72,500 $135,500
Karaka NZB $206,667 $200,000

Across the four major sales, his progeny have averaged $158,393 in 2026, up from $142,875 in 2025, continuing a positive upward trend. The improvement has been particularly evident at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, where he averaged $238,571 across seven lots sold this year. The sale has proven a happy hunting ground for the stallion, with four of his Group 1 winners purchased from the Magic Millions sale ring.

For breeders, the returns remain compelling. With a service fee of $38,500 at the time of conception, All Too Hard’s progeny have delivered an average return of 4.1 times the service fee at the yearling sales this season.

Proven Performance at Stud

Standing at Vinery since retiring to stud in 2013, All Too Hard has built a reputation as one of the most reliable sires in the country. He has produced more than 30 Stakes winners and over 60 Stakes performers, with progeny earnings exceeding $120 million.

Among his elite performers are multiple Group 1 winners including Alligator Blood, Stefi Magnetica, Wellington, Forbidden Love, and Behemoth, demonstrating his ability to sire top-class performers across a range of distances and racing jurisdictions.

Consistent Breeder Confidence

Breeders have long recognised the stallion’s reliability, and that confidence remains evident in the size of his books.

In 2025, All Too Hard covered 154 mares, an increase of 37 from the previous season. Importantly, he has never served fewer than 100 mares in a season, with his smallest book coming in 2019 when he covered 109.

That consistency reflects the industry’s faith in a stallion that continues to deliver both racetrack performance and commercial returns.

With his two-year-olds firing early in the autumn and the market responding strongly at the yearling sales, All Too Hard is once again making his presence felt across the industry.
