Mine Kart Carnage completed a Saturday double for Exceedance when he bolted in by more than four lengths at Toowoomba for local trainer Mark Currie and his wife Donna.
The Vinery resident had opened his 3yo account earlier in the day at Kembla Grange with Dance To The Boom for trainer Bjorn Baker and Cambridge Stud owner Jo Lindsay.
Mine Kart Carnage was placed over 870m and 1000m at his first two starts and travelled on a long rein in the Empire Of Japan Plate (1200m) before splitting front-runners Sowilo Siren (Invader) and Boysarebackintown (Better Than Ready) into the straight.
“He stormed away to break his maiden in style last night,” Currie said on Sunday. “He really appreciated the step up in distance and was perfectly ridden by Anthony Allen.”
Exceedance sired him from USA-bred mare Ingrid (Gemologist) who is a half-sister to Saratoga Group 1 winner Sean Avery (Cherokee Run). She’s owned by Leneva Park and foaled Morphettville winner Mintulee (Russian Revolution) first-up at the Victorian stud.
Dance To The Boom had turned heads long before her winning debut in the Neil Timmins Hcp (1200m) at Kembla. Rosemont Stud supported Exceedance with seven mares in his first book and general manager Ryan McEvoy pin-pointed two of their foals as standouts.
“The Miss Toorak Toff filly is an eye-catcher,” he said. “And the filly out of our ‘Vinnie’ mare Bim Bam Boom looks a very sharp type, too.”
McEvoy was so right on both counts. The Miss Toorak Toff filly was named Flyer and she was last seen winning the David Coles Stakes (Gr.3, 1200m) carrying Rosemont’s colours at Morphettville in May.
Bim Bam Boom is half-sister to NZ Group 1 winner Albany Reunion (Fastnet Rock) and her Exceedance filly sold for $250,000 at the 2023 Gold Coast Magic Millions.
That looked like money well-spent when she surfaced as Dance To The Boom on Saturday. Given five trials by Baker, she sat at the girth of front-runner Tsunami (Written Tycoon) and looked anything but a newcomer when running straight through the line for Keagan Latham.
Exceedance (Exceed And Excel) stands for an unchanged $33,000 (inc GST) service fee at Vinery this season with payment on a live foal. For bookings or further information, contact Adam, Harry, McKoy or Peter on (02) 6543 8333.
