All Too Hard’s Adelaide sprinter Losesomewinmore has overcome career-threatening leg issues to book a spot for the spring carnival in Melbourne.
Losesomewinmore looked right at home winning the Stud And Stable Staff Awards Hcp (1100m) at Flemington on Saturday and trainers Richard and Chantelle Jolly have several black-type options down the straight-six next season.
“We will let the dust settle but I think he could definitely feature in the spring,” Chantelle predicted following a convincing victory over Sioux Spirit (Sioux Nation) and Bifrost (Turn Me Loose) at Headquarters. “We might give him a freshen up now and then get him ready. He’s a very talented horse.”
Losesomewinmore (4g All Too Hard – Raischek by Mossman) was bred by Vinery partner Alan Green and is raced by Hong Kong-based agent David Price. His dam is a sister to Adelaide Group 1 sprinter Stirling Grove and second-dam Kalamata (Desert Prince) was a Stakes winner in New Zealand.
“He was injured and sidelined for twelve months as a younger horse,” Chantelle continued. “We’ve been patient and he’s sound now but that sesamoid injury ruled him out of Hong Kong. He didn’t even get to the stage of being vetted so it shows sometimes a nice horse like him can slip through.”
Losesomewinmore had won two of his first three Morphettville outings before a last-start second in the SA Sprint Series Final (1200m), “Inexperience beat him that day. He was a bit fresh and played up in the gates. Then he missed the kick a length and had to do a bit of work.”
Later on Saturday his stablemate Keep Reading scored a short-course victory in the Sportsbet Hcp (1000m) at Morphettville. The speedy son of Vinery sire Headwater was always prominent to prevail by a length from Chosen Blonde (Choisir) and Klabel (Vadamos).
Keep Reading is another Price-owned galloper and his stats stand at 6 wins in 25 starts for earnings of $318,000. He was bred by Vinery from Madame Bookworm (Publishing) and changed hands for $26,000 at the 2019 Magic Millions National Foal Sale.
Headwater also sired his latest maiden winner on Saturday with Candy Women making an expected breakthrough as a short-priced favourite in the TLE Schneider Hcp (1200m) at Kembla Grange.
Candy Women is trained by Greg Ryan and Stirling Alexiou for Werrett Bloodstock. Her dam Sugar Rush (More Than Ready) won twice at Randwick for Vinery partner Neil Werrett and trainer Gai Waterhouse.
Sugar Rush’s 2yo is an unraced Exceedance colt named Sugar Coat with trainers Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman. He was a $100,000 buy for Wylie Dalziel Racing at the 2023 Gold Coast Magic Millions. The mare also foaled a colt by Ole Kirk last September.
Second-dam Sugar Babe (Exceed And Excel) was bred by John Singleton to win black-type twice at Caulfield in the HDF McNeil Stakes (Gr.3, 1200m) and Debutant Stakes (LR, 1000m).
Vinery Stud’s 2024 stallion roster comprises Ole Kirk ($55,000), All Too Hard ($38,500), Exceedance ($33,000), Star Turn ($27,500), Hawaii Five Oh ($16,500), Headwater ($9,900) and Casino Prince ($5,500). All service fees (inc GST) for payment on a live foal.
