All Too Hard 2yo colts from Victoria and New Zealand head a catalogue of 19 lots by Vinery stallions at the Inglis Ready2Race Sale at Riverside Stables next Tuesday.
The All Too Hard trio will be joined by Headwater (5 lots), More Than Ready (5), Star Turn (4) and Press Statement (2).
The first All Too Hard to parade is the colt out of Pentasia (Lot 7) from NZ. He was bred by Grant Briscoe who raced the dam to a Listed victory in the 2013 Chief De Beers Quality (1100m) at Doomben.
Cambridge-based Leanach Lodge pinhooked him for $50,000 out of the Inglis Classic Sale. “He’s one of the standouts of the 9 lots we’re bringing across,” Leanach principal Ross MacKay said. “He was our fastest to breeze (10.75s) in trying conditions.”
The All Too Hard – Arcadia Lane colt (Lot 118) breezed in 10.99s at Seymour for Baystone Farm. His dam is a winning daughter of Street Cry (Ire) and SAJC Tokyo City Cup LR winner Zauberin.
“It’s a nice family and he will be a lovely 3yo type,” Baystone’s Dean Harvey said. “All Too Hard was a gun racehorse and is a versatile stallion doing a great job in Australia and in Hong Kong.
Harvey bought his colt for $55,000 from Baramul Stud at the Gold Coast Magic Millions. “All Too Hard has adapted very well to the Asian market,” Harvey added. “And we expect those buyers will be on this colt.”
The All Too Hard – Be Happy colt (Lot 126) clocked a brilliant breeze (10.33s) for Nolen Racing at Seymour on September 9. He had been pinhooked for $48,000 from Twin Hills Stud at the Inglis Scone Yearling Sale in May.
Benalla-based Tal Nolen is a past-master at prepping horses for Ready To Run Sales like the colt by Vinery sire Press Statement that went through the 2020 Magic Millions 2YO Sale. Now racing as Steel Win in Hong Kong, he won twice at Sha Tin last season for trainer Michael Chang and owner Jimmy Tang Kwok Leung.
Vinery legend More Than Ready (USA) had two of the fastest to breeze from his final Australian 2yo crop in Sydney and Brisbane last month. Valiant Stud’s gelding from Amplified (Lot 116) clocked 10.40s at Warwick Farm and A List Stud’s filly out of State of Play (Lot 62) did best of all at Eagle Farm in 10.80s.
A List’s Allan Chau was especially impressed with the More Than Ready filly who is from the immediate family of More Than Ready’s champion mare More Joyous. She was a $115,000 buy from the Blue Gum Farm draft at the Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale.
“She’s always shown a lot of ability and is ready to go,” Chau said. “She’s such an athlete, not too heavy, just a really good-sized filly. She’s got everything you want and even has a bit of sass. I think she’s pretty special.”
More Than Ready sired his 218th Stakes winner with Pleasant Passage in the Miss Grillo Stakes (Gr.2, 1700m) at Aqueduct last Saturday. The New York feature is a “Win and You’re In” event for the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (Gr.1, 1700m) at Keeneland on Friday, November 4.
