Vinery sire Star Turn was represented by his 13th first-crop winner on Friday and few of them have been quite so dominant as My Snow Queen.

The John Sargent-trained 2yo filly started an odds-on favourite in the Ironhorse Global Plate (1300m) at Goulburn and the winning margin reflected the price.  She sat outside the speed before letting down to score by more than three lengths eased down by Keagan Latham.

My Snow Queen was knocking on the door following a debut fourth at Warwick Farm in April prior to a narrow defeat at Hawkesbury last Thursday when she clocked the quickest final furlong.

Jazcom Thoroughbreds owners Colin and Meagan Branthwaite race her by default although they’re not complaining now.  “We bought her as a weanling but couldn’t sell her as a yearling,” Colin said.  “We gave her to John and race her with family and friends.  Fingers crossed for a bright future.”

Based south-west of Sydney, Jazcom is a spelling and rehabilitation farm set on 75 acres at The Oaks.  Sargent also spelled his 2yo filly Four Moves Ahead there in the lead-up to her victory in the Sweet Embrace Stakes Gr.2 at Randwick in February. The Randwick trained completed a double at Goulburn on Friday with his 3yo filly Toostar (All Too Hard).

My Snow Queen is the first foal of Lionel Left Me (Casino Prince) who won at Morphettville for Tony McEvoy.  There’s stamina in the pedigree through close relations Amovatio (Hawkesbury Gold Cup Gr.3) and Magneto (Herbert Power Stakes Gr.2) going all the way back to champion mare Emancipation (Bletchingly).

Lionel Left Me has an Impending colt being offered by Bowness Stud as Lot 1418 at the Magic Millions National Yearling Sale on Tuesday.  Star Turn has 11 yearlings catalogued for the National Yearling Sale including the filly from Blackjack Bella (Lot 1956) who is bred on the same Casino Prince cross as My Snow Queen.

Vinery stands Star Turn for a $16,500 (inc GST) service fee with payment on a live foal.  For bookings or further information, please contact Adam White (0414 800 918) or Harry Roach (0401 970 006).
