Tropicus was a brilliant winner of the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate, a race that is synonymous with producing elite stallions. Leading sires SNITZEL, FASTNET ROCK and STARSPANGLEDBANNER are all past winners of the prestigious Group 1 sprint.
The only progeny of TOO DARN HOT in the world to receive a Timeform rating of 120 or better over 1200m or less, making him the highest rated colt to win the Oakleigh Plate in the last 10 years.
Also carried the highest weight to victory in the race since the introduction of weight metrics in 1973 and no colt has rated higher to win the Oakleigh Plate over the past 10 years.
One of only two Australian Gr.1 winning colts retiring to the Hunter Valley this season.
