Mossman completed a clean-sweep of 3 Spring stakes wins with Crack Me Up in the Recognition Stakes-LR in Brisbane on Saturday.

Vinery’s evergreen stallion was back in the frame with his talented sprinter-miler at Eagle Farm and it followed recent victories by his mares White Moss (The Nivison-LR) and Pedrena (Maybe Mahal Stakes-Gr.3) at the Sydney and Melbourne spring carnivals.

Covering limited books due to fertility has never been a hindrance for Mossman producing Stakes horses and this Spring was no exception.  Averaging only 55 foals per crop, the son of Success Express has produced a Golden Slipper winner, Mossfun, an Oaks filly Miss Mossman as well as evergreen sprinter Buffering.

Crack Me Up is trained by Liam Birchley for a syndicate managed by Mark and Robert McLean.  He was knocked down for $60,000 at the 2015 Gold Coast Magic Millions and has banked $365,000 after previous strikes at stakes-level in the Sunshine Coast Guineas-Gr.3, Tattersall’s Mile-LR & Dalrello Stakes-LR

Birchley indicated his improving 4yo will be set for the Villiers Stakes-Gr.2 at Randwick on December 16.  “He has really pleased me since he came back into work this time.  We had been thinking about taking him to Sydney and he showed us enough on Saturday to justify the trip.”

Crack Me Up is a younger brother to Hoofit who claimed black-type in NZ (Bonecrusher Stakes-LR) and North America (Keeneland Phoenix Stakes-Gr.3).  Their dam Chuckle (Danehill) won a Dark Jewel Classic-LR at Scone.

Now aged 22, Mossman is restricted to limited books at Vinery, there are 6 of his yearlings catalogued for the Gold Coast Magic Millions in January.  He has sired 37 individual stakes winners with an overall winners-to-runners record soaring to an amazing 72% with over 6% Stakes horses to runners.

Mossman’s roll-call of stakes winners includes another Recognition Stakes winner Absalon (2013) who was also out of a mare by Danehill.
