AUSTRALIAN-BRED Mossman gelding Wonder Mossman made it back to back stakes win in Macau over the weekend when taking out the Group 2 Director’s Cup (1500m).

Known in Australia as Racing Eight, the four-year-old gelding has risen to become of Macau’s leading lights with placings in the Macua Derby and Macau Sprint Trophy (4th) early on before stepping up a notch in recent weeks.

His Director’s Cup victory was preceded by a win in the Sand Specialist Stakes; together sending his earnings over $1.5m in the local currency.

Wonder Mossman’s weekend win was his most thrilling yet with the gelding still some six lengths behind the leader, Absolutely Win, at the 300m marker.

Despite the huge deficit, Wonde Mossman always looked the winner finishing over the top to claim the prize.

Wonder Mossman is one of 23 stakeswinners sired by Mossman alongside Group 1 performers Ofcourseican, Buffering, Love Conquers All, Segments, Triple Elegance and the Golden Slipper runner-up Pure Energy.

Wonder Mossman is out of Eighth Wonder, a Danehill daughter of the 1998 Melbourne Cup winner Jezabeel.
