Australian bred colt Gimmethegreenlight looked every bit a Group horse in the making when scoring a breathtaking win at Kenilworth in South Africa on Saturday night.

A son of champion international juvenile sire More Than Ready, Gimmethegreenlight won as he liked – a final margin of four and a quarter lengths that could easily have been double that.

Prepared by Justin Snaith for well known racehorse owner and businessman Hassen Adams, Gimmethegreenlight is unbeaten in two runs.

On debut he recently beat subsequent stakes performer and stablemate Soweto Slew at Kenilworth.

Gimmethegreenlight, from the Canny Lad mare Yes She Can Cancan, was selected at the 2009 Magic Millions National Weanling Sale by Chris Snaith, father of trainer Justin.

The Snaiths went to $155,000 to secure the colt for Hassen Adams from the draft of Vinery Stud.  The youngter was bred in New South Wales by David Bentata.

The colt is one of three winners for the 100 per cent winner producer Yes She Can Cancan.

A winner in Adelaide and Sydney as a two-year-old the Canny Lad mare is now making her name as a producer of some note.

As well as Gimmethegreenlight she is the dam of the three time Melbourne winner and stakes placed Danehill Dancer mare La Goulue as well as the triple Sydney winner and yesterday’s Rosehill placegetter Ofcourseican.

In turn, Yes She Can Cancan is from a winning Marauding half sister to stakes winners Classic Benbara and Prince Benbara – between them the winners of 32 races and over $1.4 million.
