All Too Hard sired his second city double this week when All Too Soon and Za Zi Ba saluted at Rosehill on Saturday.
The Vinery champion has taken an early lead among third-crop stallions this season with 11 winners and $377,965 in prizemoney. He took over on top of both tables after Tarka and Cormac scored at Warwick Farm on Wednesday.
Trainer David Payne will set Tarka for a classic campaign starting with the Gloaming Stakes Gr.3 at Rosehill on September 22. His stablemate All Too Soon is also ready for a stakes race following a powerful finish to the Hachem Management Hcp (1500m) on August 25th.
“She sprained a leg in the autumn and missed the Australian Oaks,” Payne said. “She had a good spell and hasn’t shown any signs of a problem in either start since returning.”
All Too Soon (4m All Too Hard – Gallant Tess by Galileo) completed a hat-trick at Rosehill in February and there are several black-type options for her in September. “Her first-up run was impressive and it was a really nice win today,” jockey Tye Angland reported. “She’s bigger and feels stronger and David said she had trained on.”
Za Zi Ba maintained Brad Widdup’s exceptional strike-rate with a dominant victory in the Lindt Hcp (1100m). “She’s a ripper and that was a top win,” Widdup said from the Hunter Valley where he was attending the stallion parades. “She’s been terrific right from the start and it was a confident ride by Sam (Weatherley).”
Saturday’s result was her fourth win in 13 starts and she earned black-type when placed in the Darby Munro Stakes LR in March for a syndicate that includes Neil Werrett, Max Whitby, Damion Flower, Bruce Mathieson and Rick Smith.
Za Zi Ba (4m All Too Hard – Wiener by More Than Ready) is from a half-sister to Snitzel who was placed on debut for Flower in the 2005 Gimcrack Stakes LR. The All Too Hard – More Than Ready cross has also generated this year’s black-type juveniles Outrageous and Cristal Eyes.
