“Mossman goes into this Saturday having sired at least one winner at 7 of the last 10 Sydney Saturday meetings, all from his 2YO and 3YO crops,” Vinery Stud’s Adam White explained.

YOU’VE heard of the ‘merry month of May’ and for Vinery Stud resident Mossman, May day marked the beginning of a unrelenting wave of success which has reaffirmed his reputation as one of the most prolific stallions on the national roster.  This Saturday, Mortarman, Deemed and Mossurmi will look to supply Mossman with yet another Metropolitan winner.

Mossman’s record across Saturday meetings held at Sydney metropolitan tracks since May 1st is proof positive why this last season has been his best on record.

Mossman’s surge began with Joseph Pride’s star 3YO Neeson who frequently accounted for older horses during his winning rampage including a course record win in the Bert Lillye Memorial at Kembla and a tearaway 4.5-lens in the Listed Hawkesbury Guineas.
In between, Neeson defeated Darley duo Kanzan and Rarefied to claim the Listed STC Darby Munro Quality on Golden Slipper day.

Pride has since declared Neeson to be his Stradbroke Handicap contender this time next year.

Another of Mossman’s promising horses to emerge during the period was Novacastrian miss Parriwi.
She scored a comprehensive 2-lens victory at Randwick on May 15 which preceeded her all-the-way win in the Listed QTC Sir Douglas Wadley Stakes at Eagle Farm on Stradbroke Handicap day.

Parriwi ended her present campaign as a winner of four of her six starts.

Two of Mossman’s progeny were responsible for multiple wins – Love Conquers All and Triple Elegance.
The John Hawkes-trained Love Conquers All resumed from a luckless third in the rich Magic Millions 3YO Trophy with a scintillating 5.5-lens romp at Randwick despite it being his first time against open-age horses.

He backed up the effort with a gritty and determined win in the Listed AJC June Stakes where he dug deep to haul in then put paid to the highly touted former WA galloper Hay List.

In the middle of Love Conquers All’s heroics, Chris Waller’s Triple Elegance began a string of three wins, each one marked by his extravagant turn of foot.
Waller has ear-marked races like the G2 AJC Villiers Handicap for Triple Elegance and perhaps even a shot at next year’s Doncaster Handicap.

Mossman’s 2Y0 brigade have been a revelation this season with 13 individual juvenile winners including 5 seperate stakes performers.

While he may not yet be one of them, Rosehill gelding Agister would not look out of place.
He essentially “did it at both ends” winning at Rosehill first-up last weekend providing one half of a Mossman double.

“Mossman has shown all the qualities that were evident early in his career and given that he virtaully missed out an entire season and had very small numbers of foals before that, it’s just reward that he is now getting the plaudits that he is,” White said.
“His book is full for 2010 which is worthy recognition of what he has been able to do despite some difficulties in the past.
“Having looked at what is to come, I have no doubt that Mossman will maintain his current level of success at least, if not raise the bar again next season.”
