Testamezzo has pulled up a treat after banking another bonus for Testa Rossa in the Perth Magic Millions 3YO Trophy (1200m).

The Dan Pearce trained gelding joined a bandwagon of sales-related winners by Vinery stallions on Saturday.

Testa Rossa colt Unencumbered hit the jackpot on the Gold Coast in the $2 million Magic Millions 2YO Classic last month.  The back-ups have come at Randwick courtesy of Myboycharlie filly Peggy Jean ($250,000 Inglis 2YO Classic) and Mossman filly Mossfun ($253,500 Inglis Nursery) and at Moonee Valley with Dubleo youngster Silversands ($255,000 Inglis Banner).

Mossfun returned from a break to win the LR Widden Stakes at Randwick on Saturday and her connections are now plotting a path to the $3.50 million Golden Slipper Stakes in April.

Rubick is another Vinery success story.  The unbeaten colt is pre-post favourite for the G1 Blue Diamond Stakes and he was born, reared, consigned and then broken-in at Vinery.

Just hours after that black-type double in the Eastern States, Testamezzo produced a brilliant turn of acceleration to swoop home in the Magic Millions Trophy at Ascot.  He clocked the final 600m in 34.49s to win running away from Lenience (Danehill Express ) and Vampi Lass (Bletchley Park).

“He was still a half-dozen lengths behind them but closed really quickly against a class field in quick time,” Pearce said.  “He will have a quiet week while we consider where to go next.

“We decided to go into the race first-up.  He’s unbeaten fresh and his best run last time in was first-up.  The speed was on with Petrol Power up front and that worked in our favour.  I was happy on the corner.”

Testamezzo (3g Testa Rossa – Tremezzo by Encosta de Lago) is known as ‘Rosco’ around Pearce’s stables south of Perth at Karnup.  He was a $60,000 buy at the 2012 Gold Coast Magic Millions for a syndicate that includes Steve Cooper, Kevin & Linda Hughes, Brad Jones, Rob Palm, Tom & Rosemary Watson and Ron Williamson.

Testamezzo has a 2yo sister that has been retained by breeders Rob and June Harding.  She has been named Rosslago and is on the books with Mick Price at Caulfield.  Tremezzo foaled another Testa Rossa colt in September.
