Last-start Flemington winner The Bowler has been floated to the Gold Coast for the Magic Millions Cup (1400m) this Saturday.

Connections paid a late-entry fee on the advice of trainer Robert Smerdon.  The Testa Rossa gelding finished fifth in the Magic Millions 3YO Guineas twelve months ago.  “There’s not a lot of options for him in Melbourne and it’s a really rich race,” Smerdon said.  “He’s in good form and has run right-handed before.”

The Bowler (4g Testa Rossa – Specie by Canny Lad) was a $67,500 buy at the 2012 Gold Coast Magic Millions and has banked $180,600 following his latest victory in the Williamstown Hcp (1400m) on New Year’s Day.

Smerdon has also sent Real Time to the Gold Coast for the Magic Millions Cup.  The lightly raced gelding completed a hat-trick with wins at Cranbourne, Ballarat and Sandown in November.

Real Time (4g Testa Rossa – Pure Beauty by Elusive Quality) is a homebred for Gerry Harvey and is from a half-sister to Group 3 winners Carnegie House (AJC Frank Packer Plate) and Spurtonic (MRC David Jones Cup).

Vinery sire Testa Rossa has 15 yearlings entered for the Gold Coast Magic Millions starting on Wednesday.
