MOSSMAN two-year-old Stirling Grove will be aimed at the SAJC The Jansz and SAJC Sires’ Produce double later this month in the wake of his dazzling six length win at Morphettville on Saturday.
The Richard Jolly-trained gelding stalked the leader for most of the 1000m before letting down with a sharp burst of acceleration to win going away.
Stirling Grove ran an overall time of 58.99 seconds and covered the last 600m in a swift 33.92 seconds.
The gelding’s win was in contrast to his nine-length debut win at Morphettville where he showed his rivals a clean pair of heels from the outset.
“We’ve been trying to teach him to settle and it was good to see him sit off a horse like that,” Jolly said.
“You can’t just be trying to lead in every race.”
