IF she wasn’t already a champion, More Joyous’ commanding 2.5 length win in yesterday’s Group 1 ATC Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) proved beyond doubt what a remarkable racehorse the daughter of More Than Ready is.

Those who question the great mare’s capacity to run a mile and a half, one week after winning the Doncaster with 57.5kg on her back, were put back in their place as More Joyous powered up the rise to set up a comprehensive victory.

It was her 19th career win, her 4th successive win since returning from a 21-weeks spell and her seventh victory at Group 1 level.

“It’s difficult to imagine training a better horse than More Joyous,” trainer Gai Waterhouse said.

“She is a joy in every sense of the word.  Everyone kept saying why she couldn’t win, she wouldn’t run 2000m, all the other excuses, but she just blew them away in the straight.

“Only champions can produce the sort of acceleration she can and beat such an outstanding field so easily.”

More Joyous’ win caps off a sensational autumn for More Than Ready whose Blue Diamond winning daughter Samaready added a Golden Slipper placing to her Blue Diamond win, while up and comer Landing became his sires’ 96th stakeswinner when he took out the Listed South Pacific Classic (1400m).
