SECONDS TICK OVER TO A WIN
VICTORIA – Friday 19 February 2010
TWO close seconds in the space of two days added up to a win for Vinery sire Dubleo when Flemington lodger Satin Halo scored at Kyneton today.
The Russell Cameron trained filly was having her first start since an encouraging debut third at Geelong in August.
Sent out as the $4 favourite at her return, the Vinery/Newstead Syndicate owned Satin Halo settled third last in the field of 11 in the 1109m race.
She improved from the 600m to be fourth turning for home making her charge down the centre of the track to win narrowly.
“That was only her second start in a race and there was of plenty of merit in the win,” Vinery’s Adam White said.
“Based on that run she will be even better suited over a bit longer and there looks to be more wins ahead for her.”
Satin Halo’s win follows successive seconds by Dubleo pair Sunset Coast at Warwick Farm on Wednesday and Dublette at Canterbury on Thursday night.
