MOSSMAN son Second Effort is out to record his second consecutive stakes win when he lines-up in the Listed MRC Sir John Monash Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield this weekend.

The Clinton McDonald trained 6YO has been on the end of a 10-week let-up since he charged home to score back to back wins in the Listed Wangoom Handicap (1200m) by a widening 1.8-lens margin.

Second Effort boasts a tremendous strike-rate of 10 wins and 6 placings from his 28 starts with earnings of over $550,000.

Sixth in this race last year before claiming the MRC PB Lawrence S, Gr.2 the Mossman gelding looks set to extend his Stakes record this Spring. Second Effort has acquitted himself well in numerous Group races throughout his career including placings in the Group 2 MRC Memsie Stakes (1400m) behind dual Group 1 winners Sincero and Happy Trails.

He was also placed third in the Chester Manifold in 2012.
