MORE Than Ready filly More Than Sacred will attempt to become the first filly since the great Domino to tag the New Zealand Oaks/Australian Oaks double next month.

The Tony Pike-trained bay turned in a tremendous show of stamina to win NZ’s filly classic by 2-lens at Trentham last Saturday.

It was More Than Sacred’s second win inside ten days after she took out the Group 3 Sunline Vase at Ellerslie.

“She has always been strong on the line and strong past the line,” Pike said. “In almost all of her races, she’s been the last one to pull up. It’s always a good sign.”

More Than Sacred is bred on the remarkable More Than Ready/Danehill nick which has previously delivered the likes of Benicio, Perfectly Ready, Dreamaway and the Golden Slipper/Oakleigh Plate placegetter Elite Falls.

The cross was to the fore earlier in the day closer to home when the John O’Shea-trained filly Romantic Moon burst into Golden Slipper calculations with a dominant win in the Group 3 Sweet Embrace Stakes (1200m) at Warwick Farm.

In doing she she became her sire’s 113th individual stakeswinner and his fifth new stakeswinner in the last four weeks alongside ruling Kentucky Derby favourite, Verrazano.
