Vinery champion More Than Ready notched his 125th stakes winner when Room Service scored a last-to-first victory on turf in the  Herecomesthebride Stakes G3 (1800m) at Gulfstream Park on Sunday.

With Joel Rosario aboard for trainer Wayne Catalano, Room Service picked up her first stakes win for Kentucky owner-breeders Gary and Mary West.

Room Service (3f More Than Ready – Dream Lady by Old Trieste) defeated the Todd Pletcher trained stablemates Candy Kitty and Seeking Her Glory by two lengths.  The runner-up was coming off victories in the Wait a While Stakes L and Ginger Brew Stakes L.

Breaking from the far outside, Room Service dropped toward the rail at the back of the pack heading into the first turn.  She advanced from the rear of a closely grouped field with an eye-catching move approaching the home turn.  Continuing that charge, she took over at the 100m pole and quickly drew clear.

Riding the winner for the first time, jockey Joel Rosario said the pace, while not blinding by any means, was good enough for Room Service’s style.  “She wants to come from behind,” he said.  “I wanted to save her so that turning for home, I would have a lot of horse left.  She has a long stride and will tell you when she’s ready.”

Room Service is a half sister to stakes-winning filly Oscar Party and had won her maiden at Kentucky Downs last September.  “She loved the distance,” assistant trainer Kelsey Danner said.  “She had a clear trip and has got such a nice turn of foot.”

The bay filly will likely make her next start at Keeneland in April.
