More Than Ready colt Renaissance Art firmed in to 25-1 for next year’s English 2000 Guineas after a brilliant debut at the Curragh on Sunday.

The Kentucky-bred youngster travelled with ease through the Barronstown Stud EBF Maiden (1400m) and found plenty when tackled by Ballydoyle colt Australia in the final furlong.

Renaissance Art (2c More Than Ready – Lady Siphonica by Siphon) is trained by Jim Bolger who won this year’s English 2000 Guineas with champion colt Dawn Approach.  “He will improve bundles,” winning jockey Kevin Manning said.  “He’s still a baby and is still learning.”

Runner-up Australia is by Galileo from champion mare Ouija Board and he finished resolutely but was unable to peg back the winner who scored by a neck.  The Aga Khan homebred Kerkeni (Manduro) was a three-quarters of a length away third.

Renaissance Art (USA) is from a winning sister to G1 Hollywood Futurity winner Siphonic and was bred by Lanark Farms owner Ted Bassett.  He also holds a nomination for the G1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile at Santa Anita in November.

More Than Ready colt Pluck won the 2010 Breeders Cup Juvenile and he will shuttle to Vinery for a second southern book this year.

Vinery champion More Than Ready will stand for a $99,000 (inc gst) service fee in 2013.
