The Team Hawkes tactics of switching horses between their Sydney and Melbourne stables paid off again at Moonee Valley on Friday night.

Reflectivity, a 3yo son of Vinery sire All Too Hard, is the latest horse to benefit from a change of scenery.  A last-start maiden winner at Kembla Grange, he responded to a clever ride from Dwayne Dunn to win the PKF Hcp (1500m) by a short-head from King Kabuto (Helmet).

“The wind picked up and changed direction after I walked the track so it was a good win under the circumstances,” Dunn explained.  “He had to work hard into the 900m corner and past the school while being eye-balled by the second horse.”

Reflectivity was bred by Makybe owner Tony Santich and is raced by a syndicate that includes Nick Giorgetta, Rupert Legh, Neil Werrett and Vinery partners Alan Green, Greg Perry, Steve McCann and Tom Simon.

His dam Climatic (Fusaichi Pegasus) won and was stakes placed in Adelaide.  Second-dam Monsoon Wedding (Danehill) is a sister to Redoute’s Choice.

“All credit to John and the boys for bringing him to Melbourne,” Dunn added.  “He drifted off the track at Kembla and racing left-handed from the inside barrier helped me find the right path tonight.  There’s plenty of upside to this horse.

“All Too Hard was one of the best I’ve ever ridden – he was a superstar – and it’s great to see his progeny stepping up to the mark.”
