QUALITY mare Mossmoney was able to take her earnings beyond $100,000 after a soft come from behind win at Canterbury on Friday night in class record time.

The Chris Waller-trained daughter of Mossman was in the second half of the 7-horse field before rounding up her rivals into the stretch to win by 2-lens in a time of 1:32.25s for the 1550m journey.

It was the mare’s second win to go with 11 placings from 24 career starts with current earnings of $106,210.
Mossmoney, owned by Ingham Bloodstock, is an intriguingly bred mare fashioned with a 3X3 double cross of the Grundy mare Offshore, the grand-dam of Golden Slipper winner Guineas and Mosman himself.

Mossmoney is one of 275 individual winners sired by Mossman who has 21 stakeswinners to his credit and a winners to runners strike rate of 67.9 percent boasting the likes of Group 1 performers Ofcourseican, Buffering and Love Conquers All, now at stud himself.

Indeed, she is bred on the same Mossman/Canny Lady cross as Mossman’s Coolmore Classic winner, Ofcourseican, a half-sister to South African Group 1 winner Gimmethegreenlight (by More Than Ready).
