UNMISTAKABLE Dubleo colt Queenian went within a nose of scoring his first stakes win when nosed out by Darley miss Anise in yesterday’s Group 3 Kindergarten Stakes (1100m) at Royal Randwick.

The David Payne trained youngster was having his first start since finishing third behind the highly rated Glissade and Swerte Bella in an unusually strong two-year-old race at HQ on New Year’s Day.

Queenian showed the benefits of a swashbuckling 6.5-lens win a Rosehill 900m heat ahead of yesterday’s return.
He made his run at the same time as Anise as the field turned for home in the Kindergarten matching strides for the last furlong before the pair hit the line locked together.

”Queenian is a very good looking horse and loaded with talent,” says Vinery’s Conor Phelan.
”He was good in his only two runs in the summer and has obviously come back extremely well.
”There are good races in him, that’s for sure.”
