Boom colt Press Statement is set to make his eagerly awaited return to the track in Saturday’s Gr.2 The Run To The Rose (1200m) at Rosehill Gardens.

The Chris Waller-trained colt was undefeated in his juvenile season and was last seen scoring a dominant win in the Gr.1 JJ Atkins Stakes at Doomben in June.

“Press Statement has had two-and-a-half months away from the track and he has come back stronger,” Waller told ANZ Bloodstock News.

“He only had a couple of weeks doing nothing and, like all young horses, he loves stable life and thrives on it.” He added: “The only thing is the weight he has to carry with the four kilo penalty for being a Group One winner.”

A homebred for successful breeder and well known racing identity Tony Muollo, Press Statement is a half-brother to former top juvenile Pressday (Domesday) whom Waller trained to win the JJ Atkins Stakes in 2010 when it was known as the TJ Smith Classic.

Press Statement will wear the red and yellow colours of the China Horse Club for the first time on Saturday after they and Vinery Stud purchased a significant interest in the exciting youngster in July.
