The first yearlings by More Than Ready’s son Pluck sold to $100,000 at the Gold Coast Magic Millions on Wednesday.

Warwick Farm trainer Gabrielle Englebrecht went to six-figures for Pluck’s filly out of Diamond Cove and Champion Brisbane trainer Tony Gollan weighed in with $90,000 for his filly from Bonded.

Pluck finished the opening session with an average of $77,000 which is a significant mark-up on his service fee of $11,000 (inc gst).

Englebrecht waited until the penultimate lot on Day 1 before buying the Diamond Cove filly.  “We overlooked her during our first inspections but Conor Phelan from Vinery suggested she was definitely worth a look.  I’m glad he did because she’s a standout.

“I bought her for Kevin Pitstock and we were both blown away by her athleticism and charisma.  Kevin said, ‘I don’t care about the price – just buy her’.

“The Plucks are a lot like More Than Ready and there’s a real presence about our filly.  And Diamond Cove has already thrown winners by Testa Rossa and Red Ransom.”

Englebrecht and Pitstock also paid $190,000 for Vinery’s filly by Smart Missile from Brothers Dream.  Her dam is a half-sister to Charge Forward.

“It was an exciting day and we had a wine to celebrate!” Gabby said.  “The big bucks at the 2016 Magic Millions are a big incentive and we will be adding more yearlings to the team later this week.”
