Pluck was back in business at Swan Hill on Monday following a successful spring carnival at Flemington.

His colt Removal showed a touch of class winning the Bottle-O Maiden Plate (975m) by two lengths for Aquanita trainer Nick Ryan and jockey Thomas Sadler.  He was appearing for the first time since a short juvenile campaign earlier this year.

Removal (3c Pluck – Enemy Dragline by General Nediym) raced right away in the straight to score by two lengths from front-running mare Wound Tight.  “He’s very new and the blustery conditions didn’t help,” Sadler said.  “He’s got ability and put paid to them even though he raced greenly.

“That will be a confidence-booster and he will go through the classes from here.”

Removal was purchased by Lauren Cameron for $55,000 at the 2015 Magic Millions National Sale.  He’s a half-brother to Eagle Farm winner Combatant (Jet Spur) and hails from the family of Brisbane stakes winner Warrior Trader.

Pluck is on a roll with a flurry of 3yo winners from his first crop this season.  And his second-crop is headed by G3 Maribyrnong Plate winner Aspect and G3 Ottawa Stakes runner-up Lucky Louie.

He is a Top 10 second-season sire in Australia and is third in the winners category behind Smart Missile and Foxwedge.

Vinery Stud stands Pluck alongside his sire More Than Ready for a $9,900 (inc. GST) service fee.
