TESTA Rossa reached a significant milestone today when 2yo first-starter Pindan Pearl became the Vinery resident’s 500th individual winner.

A six-times Group One winner from 1000m to a mile, Testa Rossa has carved out a reputation as one of the most consistent stallions on the national roster.

Testa Rossa has finished in the Top 5 Australian Sires by Winners in two of the last three completed seasons.

He has sired stakeswinners from 900m to 2800m in 15 different countries and has progeny earnings approaching $50 million.

Testa Rossa has delivered 91 stakes-performers (46 stakeswinners/45 stakes-placed) led by globe-trotting mare and triple Group One winner Ortensia and the SAJC Robert Sangster Stakes (1200m) winner Rostova.

“Every stud dreams of standing a horse like Testa Rossa,” says Vinery Stud general manager Peter Orton.

“He is one of those stallions that gets winners from two-year-old right up to seven and eight, they can sprint and stay in all conditions at tracks around Australia. There wouldn’t be many trainers who didn’t win at least one race with one of Testa Rossa’s progeny.”

Testa Rossa has needed only 692 runners to reach 500 winners reflecting an awesome strike-rate of 72.2 percent.

His 500th winner, Pindan pearl, could very well one-day add her name to Testa Rossa’s stakeswinner Honour Roll given her stylish win in the aptly-named SAJC Dominant Handicap (1050m).

Trained by Peter Moody, Pindan Pearl is the first foal of Moody’s quality mare Reggie whose three stakeswins include the BTC Premier’s Cup and VRC Bagot Handicap.
