CASINO PRINCE iron horse, Phrases managed to squeeze in a well-earned Stakes win for himself when taking out yesterday’s Listed ATC Randwick City Stakes (2000m) on Guineas day.

He was ridden well by Jason Collett who was happy to travel in third for most of the race. When asked to go on the straight Phrases responded and fought hard to join the leader (Self Sense) at the post for a narrow victory.

The 5yo gelding has clocked up an extensive record in a relatively short time displaying all the tough attributes of his sire.  Already a Stakes performer Phrases collected his first black-type placing earlier this year when a 1.1-lens third in the Listed Gosford City Cup over 2100m.  The 2013 Port Macquarie Cup winner has so far won $425,515 with an overall record of 49s: 8-10-7.

Phrases is bred, owned and trained by Bindi Cheers. His dam, Melody, is a city winner by Stravinsky who also foaled Motifs (by Fusaichi Pegasus), a Stakes placegetter in the 2011 SAJC Queen Adelaide S.

Phrases’ Randwick triumph was one of 4 individual winners for Casino Prince on Saturday and the ninth stakes winner by the sire alongside champion racehorse All Too Hard, SAJC Derby winner Escado and the Group 2 winners Hooked, Star Rolling, Longport.
