FOUNDATION sire Red Ransom helped deliver Vinery stallions the Up and Coming/Silver Shadow Stakes double at Warwick Farm on Saturday with Patinack-bred Thump proving too classy for her rivals in the fillies feature.
Soon after it was More Than Ready colt’s War’s chance to shine as the half million yearling and three-quarter-brother to More Joyous staged a tough win in the Up and Coming.
Thump is from the last incomplete crop of Red Ransom and is one of just 41 live foals that collectively turned three on August 1.
Her dam, Oomph, was a high class daughter of Flying Spur whose six career wins include the P J Bell, Carrington Stakes, Sheraco Stakes and Triscay Stakes – all of them Listed level.
Ironically Oomph was also placed in the Silver Shadow and Show County Quality on consecutive racedays in 2001 and 2002.
Thump is Oomph’s fifth living foal.
She delivered a three-quarter-brother to Thump by Vinery’s Group 1 winning 2YO and exciting freshman Onemorenomore in 2011 and is on foal to another Vinery stallion, Husson.
