TODD Pletcher, the man who guided More Than Ready and his replica son Pluck to their racetrack glory, is about to take the wraps off a potential new Big Brown star by the name of Darwin.

Owned by Coolmore, Darwin is the Big Brown colt who sold for US$1.3 million at the Fasig-Tipton Horses in Training sale in Florida in February.

“He’s been training very well,” Pletcher said.

“He’s a very professional-acting colt and he has been doing everything properly in the morning, so he is close to being ready.

“I would say hell be ready to start in the next couple of weeks at Belmont.

“He’s had a nice, steady series of breezes, including two consecutive gate works in which he has been away from the gate alertly and he seems to be a pretty professional sort that things have come pretty easily to so far,’’ says Pletcher.

Darwin worked over a half mile (800m) in a time of :48.34 earlier in the week which was the 14th-fastest of the 42 that galloped over that trip.
