A fast finishing win by progressive mare Valentine Miss in the Group Three MRC How Now Stakes at Caulfield last Saturday highlighted the premature loss of her sire Danetime (IRE), who may yet achieve further fame in Australia as a sire of sires.
Last spring, Vinery Stud launched the stud career of an imported son of Danetime in Myboycharlie (IRE), a brilliant juvenile, who won his first three starts by a combined margin of 12 lengths culminating in a Group One victory at Deauville in the Prix Morny over 1200 metres.
The interesting thing for Australian breeders is that Myboycharlie (pictured above) could easily be one of our own.
A fast tough precocious juvenile, Myboycharlie is a grand-son of Danehill, through Danetime (IRE), who shuttled for three full seasons to Western Australia leaving nine stakes-winners led by Group One winner Megatic.
Myboycharlie comes from a European stakes family that has enjoyed notable success in Australia over many years through horses such as: Snowland, Portillo, Snippetson, Snow Alert, Fravashi, Pure Joy, Russian Caravan, Custard, Vivacious Spirit, etc.
There is no wondering about whether Myboycharlie has a pedigree suited to Australia, we know it is – that is proven fact!
“He’s a horse that has obvious credentials for Australia and I believe we never really saw the best of Danetime here,” said Adam White of Vinery Stud.
“What he achieved from those few small crops in Western Australia was nothing short of outstanding and he was probably the sort of sire that may have eventually found his way to the Hunter Valley.”

“He’s going really well for mares this season and just this week we booked the 100th mare to him, which was our goal for this year, given he covered 94 last spring,” said Adam White.
“A good many of those breeders have foals on the ground and have been very happy with what they have seen and it’s not just in the Hunter Valley.
“He has some very nice foals in Western Australia due to the Danetime connection with several breeders from over there choosing to support him and we’ve also heard positive reports from Queensland as well, so his foals are spreading out right across Australia.”
His first foals were a talking point for many breeders during the recent round of stud open days in the Hunter Valley as pictured – top colt Myboycharlie x Olivine (USA), middle, colt Myboycharlie x Gloravega, bottom, filly Myboycharlie x Conquistar (NZ).
