There is no greater compliment than when breeders want to book back to a sire after seeing his first foals.  It’s the best advertising a young stallion can have.

A fast finishing win by progressive mare Valentine Miss in the Group Three MRC How Now Stakes at Caulfield last Saturday highlighted the premature loss of her sire Danetime (IRE), who may yet achieve further fame in Australia as a sire of sires.

Last spring, Vinery Stud launched the stud career of an imported son of Danetime in Myboycharlie (IRE), a brilliant juvenile, who won his first three starts by a combined margin of 12 lengths culminating in a Group One victory at Deauville in the Prix Morny over 1200 metres.

The interesting thing for Australian breeders is that Myboycharlie (pictured above) could easily be one of our own.

A fast tough precocious juvenile, Myboycharlie is a grand-son of Danehill, through Danetime (IRE), who shuttled for three full seasons to Western Australia leaving nine stakes-winners led by Group One winner Megatic.

Myboycharlie comes from a European stakes family that has enjoyed notable success in Australia over many years through horses such as: Snowland, Portillo, Snippetson, Snow Alert, Fravashi, Pure Joy, Russian Caravan, Custard, Vivacious Spirit, etc.

There is no wondering about whether Myboycharlie has a pedigree suited to Australia, we know it is – that is proven fact!

“He’s a horse that has obvious credentials for Australia and I believe we never really saw the best of Danetime here,” said Adam White of Vinery Stud.

“What he achieved from those few small crops in Western Australia was nothing short of outstanding and he was probably the sort of sire that may have eventually found his way to the Hunter Valley.”

Myboycharlie covered 94 mares in his debut season including the likes of: Angelic Belle (dam of multiple G3 winner Here de Angels), Advantage Receiver (daughter of G1 winner Miss Kournikova) Come Fly With Me (SW by More Than Ready (USA), ) Queen of Kings (G2 winner sold for 200K in foal toMyboycharlie), Aunty Betty (Gr 3 winner), Olivine (Multiple SW by Royal
Academy), More than Fair (USA) (half sister to More than Ready) Translate (young G3 winner), Tinsel Time (USA) (SW imported More than Ready mare), Famous Painter (dam of G3 winner Sistine Angel), Young Vic (dam of SW’s Irongail, Walking Or Dancing) Springfire (daughter of G1 winner Bravery and mother of SW Spring Warrior) Nice Dancing (USA) (mother of G3 winner Musidora) Montelimar (stakeperformed daughter of SW Allez France) Momentous Ride (dam of of SW Sara’s Choice), Miss Sultry Song (half sister to multiple G1 winner Mentality).

“He’s going really well for mares this season and just this week we booked the 100th mare to him, which was our goal for this year, given he covered 94 last spring,” said Adam White.

“A good many of those breeders have foals on the ground and have been very happy with what they have seen and it’s not just in the Hunter Valley.

“He has some very nice foals in Western Australia due to the Danetime connection with several breeders from over there choosing to support him and we’ve also heard positive reports from Queensland as well, so his foals are spreading out right across Australia.”

His first foals were a talking point for many breeders during the recent round of stud open days in the Hunter Valley as pictured – top colt Myboycharlie x Olivine (USA), middle, colt Myboycharlie x Gloravega, bottom, filly Myboycharlie x Conquistar (NZ).

Murray Tillett (Magic Millions)

“The five Myboycharlie foals I have seen are top class and a stamp of each other. The colts out of Spazzata and Steely Gaze are real standouts, they are as good a foals as you could hope to see by a first season sire.”

Craig Anderson (Amarina Farm)

“We have a number of Myboycharlie foals on Amarina and are absolutely delighted with them, they are forward good quality foals that are in the image of himself, I really couldn’t be more impressed.”

Harry Mitchell (Yarraman Park)

“The Grand Bird colt we have at Yarraman is a good straight forward first foal, that looks a lot like his sire.”

Susan Keating (Blue Gum Farm)

“The Zugat colt is a very good strong colt he has real presence, he is just a lovely foal.”

Myboycharlie stands at Vinery Stud at a fee of $11,000 and for more information contact Adam White on 0414800918 or email adam@vinery.com.au
