Tony McEvoy knew his 2yo colt Unfair Dismissal would be right at home in Stakes company at Morphettville.

The All Too Hard youngster returned from Victoria to McEvoy’s Barossa Valley stables for a Morphettville win last month and he was seen to advantage tackling black-type for the first time in the Oaklands Plate LR on Saturday.

Unfair Dismissal (2c All Too Hard – Up And Up by Exceed And Excel) stamped his authority sitting outside the leader and then let down for a three-quarter length victory over 1400m.

McEvoy was surprised when told the winner drifted to start at $7.  “Wow!  I didn’t realize he got out to that price.  He’s been in work a long time and is a good, tough colt.  He’s a big galloping horse with a big action and the pedigree says he will get further.”

Unfair Dismissal was a $120,000 buy for Tony Santic from Baramul Stud at the 2017 Gold Coast Magic Millions.  He hails from a successful NZ family founded by Group 1 winning mare Alynda.

McEvoy also prepares All Too Hard 3yo filly Divanation who won on debut at Werribee in May.  She was bred by Santic from his Melbourne Cup legend Makybe Diva.

Jockey John Allen reported Unfair Dismissal found plenty when challenged by First Class Dreamer at the furlong.  “I wasn’t too anxious to cross to the fence and he raced in a lovely rhythm.  He’s a beautiful, big horse and was dominant today.”

Unfair Dismissal is the 5th Stakes winner from All Too Hard’s first crop and is one of 13 individual 2yo winners this season by the Vinery sire who stands for a $33,000 service fee.
