CONNECTIONS of Benicio mare Caravan Sang were at last able to celebrate a well earned win with their consistent mare following her victory in the Adam Dower Memorial Maiden Plate (1532) at Mornington on Friday.

The Robert Kingston trained four-year-old had managed to place three times from her previous 8 starts including a last start 0.6-lens fourth at Sandown where she struck interference early on in the race.
Prior to that Caravan Sang had placed at Terang and Sale signalling that a win was indeed close at hand.

Caravan Sang is a particularly well bred mare being by More Than Ready’s Group 1 winning son, Benicio (ex Mannington) out of an imported daughter of Bering.
She is a half sister to stakesperformers Marranilla and Aistream.
Her third dam, Before Dawn, was the USA Champion 2YO of her year and is the ancestor of Golden Slipper hero, Prowl.

Caravan Sang is part owned by Limerick Lane whose principal Gerry Lane shares in the ownership of Melbourne Cup winner, American, as well as the promising Excites three-year-old Greenedge who has won two of his three starts.
