WORLD champion sire More Than Ready has ended day two of the 2012 Magic Millions Yearling Sale with two of the top of five lots sold while at the same time the competition for Myboycharlie’s first crop remains intense.

Already responsible for two Magic Millions 2YO Classic winners in recent years, More Than Ready proved an obvious favourite with buyers, notably Gai Waterhouse who prepared 2008 Golden Slipper winner and first season sire, Sebring and the five times Group 1 winning mare, More Joyous, both progeny of the Halo grandson.

Waterhouse paid $600,000 for a daughter of the former stakeswinning mare Sugar Babe whose wins include the Group 3 MRC HDF McNeil Stakes (1200m) as well as the Listed Debutantes Stakes.
Sugar Babe is a daughter of Zeditave mare, On Type, who was housed at Waterhouse’s Tulloch Lodge during her sparkling career which was highlighted by victories in the Group 2 Surround, Premier and Shannon Stakes.

Earlier on in the sale, Segenhoe Stud spent $470,000 on a superbly bred colt by More Than Ready out of the stakeswinning mare, Presenting, a grand-daughter of the illustrious Denise’s Joy.

“More Than Ready has a tremendous draft of yearlings at the Gold Coast this year and there is more to come over the coming days,” says Vinery’s Adam White.
“Still ahead are sons and daughters of Aqua D’Amour, Danni Martine, Universal Queen as well as a full-brother to Group 1 winner and New Zealand’s reigning champion first season sire, Perfectly Ready. The dam, Elle Duccio, is also a half sister to Golden Slipper winner, Belle Du Jour.”

IN TOUGH TIMES, TURN TO TESTA

Not to be outdone, the incomparable Testa Rossa is proving why he is tagged as the ‘trainer’s stallion’ with a perfect record of 12 offered, 12 sold – two of them for above $200,000.
“It just goes to show that in a cautious market, buyers like to take the proven road,” White says,”and there is no more proven horse than Testa Rossa.”
The sale continues tomorrow at 11am.
