WITH 15 yearlings headed to Oaklands for the 2011 Inglis Premier Sale which starts on Monday, Testa Rossa couldn’t have crafted a more timely opportunity than today to notch his 32nd individual stakeswinner.

Blue Diamond day at Caulfield was sealed by a gutsy win from the Matt Ellerton/Simon Zahra trained Red Flair who proved the victor in a two-horse from the top of the straight to the winning post to claim the coveted Group 3 MRC Mannerism Stakes (1400m).

It was a just reward for the chestnut who had won five of her 32 starts with 12 placings and earnings prior to today’s $120,000 top-up of $343,613.

“Testa Rossa is having another great year and a particularly strong period in the run up the Premier,” says Vinery Stud’s Conor Phelan.

“If he not getting stakeswinner or stakes performers, he’s siring metropolitan doubles and even trebles. It’s why the buyers and the trainers like the breed so much – they are tough, genuine and win races from two up to eight over all sorts of trips on any type of track around Australia.”
