Champion Jockey Nash Rawiller looks certain to be the benevolent giver of a $10,000 donation to the National Jockey’s Trust on behalf of the Big Brown Syndicate after virtually wrapping up the Sydney Jockey’s Premierhsip today at Rosehill with a wining treble.
Rawiller bagged multiple winners on the card by way of which extending his lead on nearest rival Corey “Big” Brown to 11 with a solitary 2 metropolitan meetings reaming in the 2009/10 season.
“If Brownie can catch me from here, then he deserves the title,” Rawiller said. “I never thought I’d win a premiership, especially in Sydney, and although it hasn’t sunk in because I haven’t won it yet, if I get there it will be a dream come true.”
Vinery joined in the tight-nit arm wrrestle beteeen Rawiller and Brown with weeks remaining in the tussle opting to donate the purse to a most worthy cause.
“Jockeys are the unfashioned heroes of our sport,” Vinery’s Adam White said’ they go out everyday and risk injury to earn a living – a fact which is often forgotten in the high fashion of racing.”
Big Brown, the winner of the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness Stakes by a combined margin of 10-lens is due to arrive at Vinery Stud on August 16.
“We are all getting very excited about his arrival. (Genreal Manager Peter Orton) has seen him in Ketucky and the reports are very good about him.
“Breeders have ensured that he gets a great book of mares in his first season which should give him every opportunity.”
