POPULAR Vinery Stud resident Myboycharlie is rested up and in great shape as he prepares to return to Scone for another busy spring in the breeding barn.

The former French Champion 2YO and Group 1 winner is in the final stages of his mandatory quarantine requirements in Europe before baording a plane for the flight to Australia.

“He left the farm in great condition having put on weight this past couple of weeks,” reported Phillippe Brosset, stud manager at Myboycharlie’s NH-base, Haras du Mezeray in Normandy, France.

“He proved very popular in France and was extremely fertile again. He covered about 114 mares and he was flying with more than 90 percent mares in foal already.”

Myboycharlie’s first Australian yearlings met with enormous favour selling for up to $170,000 and averaging over $120,000 at the Magic Millions on the Gold Coast.

Buyers who purchased a Myboycharlie in 2012 include Gai Waterhouse/Denise Martin (3), Peter Moody, David Hayes, Lee Freedman, Cliff Brown, John Sadler, Gerald Ryan, Michael Kent, David Payne and Triple Crown Syndications (2).

“The way his first yearlings were recieved was a great reward for those breeders who sent their mare to the stallion in his first year.  The consistent quality of his first and second crop progeny has certainly raised the level in terms of mare quality on his future books,” Vinery’s Conor Phelan said, “Myboycharlie is a stallion on the rise and will be available for inspection over the Stallion Parade weekend on the 25th and 26th of August.”
