Unbeaten Myboycharlie filly Zelady’s Night Out has added another dimension to the Magic Millions 2YO Classic on the Gold Coast.
Zelady’s Night Out stretched out to 1200m on a good surface to defeat a deep field of Magic Millions hopefuls in the G3 Bruce McLachlan Stakes on Saturday. She joined a frantic pace up front before Jim Byrne elected to take a sit and then settle the issue in the straight.
The Tony Gollan trained filly had won her first two starts over 1150m on slow tracks at Doomben and has emerged as a clear second-choice for the $2 million feature behind odds-on favourite Capitalize.
“Capitalist is a very good colt but I wouldn’t swap my filly,” Gollan declared. “There was a lot of speed on today and she couldn’t have been any more impressive. That’s three-from-three and now she’s had a good look around at the track.
“We’ve been kind to her in the lead up and there’s more improvement to come. She’s my best chance to win the Magic Millions.”
Zelady’s Night Out became the 8th stakes winner by Vinery sire Myboycharlie (Fr) last time out in the Calaway Gal Stakes and the Bruce McLachlan hat-trick sent her bank balance over $200,000.
“She came back under me when the others were determined to lead,” Byrne said. “Every time I’ve jumped on her she’s improved. Her temperament helps – she’s very relaxed.”
Myboycharlie (Danetime) has 3 yearlings catalogued for the Gold Coast Magic Millions in January and another 5 lots entered for the Inglis Summer Classic Sale on February 6.
