BOOKIES were left licking their wounds following the first-up win of Novacastrian filly Parriwi in today’s STC Centro Roselands Handicap (1100m) at Canterbury.

The Mossman two-year-old opened up at $11 but weight of money saw her firm in to start $8 at the jumped.

Parriwi was well back in the 10-horse field turning for home but unleashed a powerful burst inside the final 150m to score by 0.8 lengths.

The Kris Lees-trained filly is one of nine individual 2YO winners sired by Mossman this season, six of those in town.

Mossman has also sired juvenile two stakes-performers this season namely Mafia Miss and Stirling Grove.
