MORE Than Ready, Gai Waterhouse and John Singleton claimed back-to-back Tea Rose Stakes yesterday when blue-blood More Strawberries added her second Group Two win in as many starts.
Perfectly ridden by veteran hoop Jim Cassidy, More Strawberries set the tempo as she did in the Furious Stakes two weeks earlier digging deep to convincingly deny race favourite Parables.
“A masterly ride on an outstanding filly,” Waterhouse said. ”He controlled the race and turned it into a sprint home.
“Parables ran up to beat More Strawberries but I was so impressed with my filly’s tenacity. She’s improving with racing and is the one to beat in the Flight Stakes.”
More Strawberries’ win comes exactly 12 months after More Joyous defeated Melito by 2.3-lens in the Tea Rose ahead of her Flight Stakes win.
