JUST 24-hours after he sired his second Adelaide Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner, Vinery Stud sire More Than Ready provided the sale-topper on Day One of the corresponding sale.

Leading local trainer Phillip Stokes paid $210,000 to secure Lot 116, a bay colt from Baramul Stud out of the Desert King mare, Sun Chariot.

”He was a real stand out.” Stokes said. ”He was the colt of the sale and I’m delighted to have been able to buy him.

”He’s by one of the great stallions in the country in More Than Ready and he has a lot going for him.

”The dam is a half sister to Super Satin – who I trained prior to him heading to Hong Kong (where he won the Derby)

”And this colt has a lot more substance than Super Satin had at the same stage,” he added.

Overall on Day-1, 164 yearlings sold for $5,669,500 (up 54.5% on last year’s 137 sold for $3,670,500).  The average of $34,570 was up 29% (last year $26,792) & the clearance rate was 81.2% (last year 76.1%).

The Adelaide Magic Millions Sale result bodes well for Vinery which offers Hearth, a 3/4 sister to Sun Chariot, in foal to More Than Ready at this years Inglis Easter Broodmare Sale.
