MORE Than Ready’s peerless reputation as the superior sire of Champion 2YO’s around the world will be enhanced further if crack Melbourne colt Cambiaso can complete the Maribyrnong Trial/Plate double at Flemington on Saturday week.

The Danny O’Brien trained youngster is aiming to join the likes of Canny Lad, Flavour and Star Shower as horses that were able to win both races in the spring.

Cambiaso showed good speed to race handy in the Plate levelling up and assuming the lead in time to score an impressive half-length win over Iprimus and Lil Red Corvette who happens to be out of a Testa Rossa broodmare.

Cambiaso is a superbly bred colt by More Than Ready out of the stakeswinning Flying Spur mare, Flying Alpha.

He was sold for $300,000 as part of Torryburn Stud’s elite 2011 Gold Coast Magic Millions Yearling draft.

Cambiaso is the latest exponent of the rapidly expanding cross developing between More Than Ready and Flying Spur daughters.

Others bred this way include 2008 Golden Slipper hero Sebring as well as the stakes-performers Hot ‘N’ Ready, Willingani, Ali Spur and also Champing who chases his fifth win from seven starts at Rosehill tomorrow.

“The success of the More Than Ready/Flying Spur cross is a continuance of the nick that has been established between More Than Ready and Danehill mares,” Vinery’s Adam White points out.

“The nick has so far produced 50 individual winners including Group 1 winners Benicio, Perfectly Ready and Dreamaway, Golden Slipper placegetter Elite Falls and a number of others.

“It is a truly remarkable nick.”
