Today’s AJC Betting Auditorium Stakes (1200m) for 2yo’s at Randwick played out more like the Vinery Stud Stakes – minus the Group One – with resident sires, More Than Ready and Testa Rossa providing all three placegetters in a thrilling finish to the fillies event.

Gosetgo becomes the 13th individual juvenile winner in Australia this season for the nation’s twice Champion 2YO Sire.   This result which comes hot on the heels of a formidible return by 2yo Brightexpectations at the recent trials and a new 2yo winner from the first crop of More Than Ready’s son Benicio.

Well supported More Than Ready filly Gosetgo was expertly handled by in-form hoop Corey Brown who has shaved Nash Rawiller’s lead on the NSW Jockey’s Premiership to just two with only a handful of meetings remaining in the season.

Gosetgo (ex Grooves by Marscay) took up a favourable position in the run settling comfortably in fourth position as the field made its way up to the turn.
Brown was able to save ground throughout driving up inside the leaders to reach the lead with about 100m left to run.

Just as it seemed that they had the race in their keeping, Vinery Stud’s own Testa Rossa filly Platinum Red powered down the centre of the track from near last but narrowly ran out of time to bridge the gap.  The early leader and second favourite, Raw Edge (also by Testa Rossa) finished a close third.

Gosetgo’s win continues a hot-streak for popular owner/breeders Geoff and Beryl White whose famous purple and white silks were worn to success by promising Mossman 2YO colt Agister at Rosehill Gardens last Saturday.
