VINERY Stud sire Big Brown added a seventh stakes horse to his first crop tally when Kentucky bred colt Always Curious finished a hd x hd third in the Restoration Stakes (L) on the turf at Monmouth Park in the USA on the weekend.

Always Curious was having only her third race start in Saturday’s feature highlighted by her July 13 win on the grass at Colonial Downs in Virginia.

The Michael Moran trained 3YO’s first outing in stakes company saw her beaten narrowly in a tight finish battling on gamely despite a wide run.

Big Brown has so far sired 40 winners (from 67 runners) including 4 stakes winners and 3 stakes placegetters in U.S, Europe and Japan.

The 2008 Kentucky Derby/Preakness winner has the opportunity of notching his first Group 1 winner next month when the Coolmore owned US$1.3 million Ready To Run sale topper, Darwin, tackles the coveted Irish National Champion Stakes (2012) at the Curragh.
