AUSTRALIAN-BRED galloper and Testa Rossa son World Fortune catapulted his earnings above A$400,000 after finishing a luckless runner-up in last weekend’s Macau Star of the South – G1 worth a total purse M$1,000,000 making it one of the nation’s richest races.

World Fortune’s effort to finish second was a noble one given that the horse needed to be steadied off heels on repeated occasions with stewards reporting that he raced in restricted room at crucial stages.

World Fortune was bred (in partnership) by esteemed industry icon Colin McAlpine and is part of one of Eureka Stud’s most influential foundation families whose members boast the likes of Shiva’s Revenge, Lolita Star, Just Now, Stanzaic, Tellson, McClintock and recent South African Golden Horseshoe winner, Happy Archer.

The colt (now gelded) was sold at the 2008 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling sale for $50,000 out of the Yallambee Stud (as agent) draft.

World Fortune won on debut in Macau before going onto the place second in the Macau Derby.
