DENISE Martin is hoping for the female equivalent of her Golden Slipper hero Sebring having secured an outstanding More Than Ready filly on day three of the Magic Millions Yearlings sale on the Gold Coast.

The filly is a daughter of the Sadler’s Wells mare Perfect Evening and boasts an international pedigree laden with black-type winners.

Martin paid $150,000 for the August 22 foal, not much more than what she outlaid on Sebring at the corresponding sale in 2008.

Naturally the filly will be trained by Gai Waterhouse who has so far purchased three More Than Ready yearlings at the sale including the first foal of G1 winner Cinque Centro ($410,000 day one).

Waterhouse will saddle-up More Than Ready’s Pago Pago Stakes winner Brightexpectations in Saturday’s rich Magic Millions Guineas (1400m).

Day three of the sale saw nine More Than Ready’s change hands for a total of $950,000.

Buyers included Ingham Bloodstock (Lot 530 for $310,000), Paul Perry, David Hayes, Dynamic Syndication and Rick Connolly Bloodstock P/L.

As expected, progeny of the former Magic Millions winner and five times G1 star Testa Rossa have been popular at these sales as have those of Mossman.

”The Testa Rossa yearlings are averaging $90,000 while two of Mossman’s yearlings have made $100,000 and up,” Vinery’s Adam White said.

”Overall and apart from the prices being achieved, we are most delighted with the clearance rate on our stallion’s progeny. The market has a high regard for our stallions and that is crucial when there are so many horses being offered.”
