VINERY super sire More Than Ready’s stocks as a broodmare sire in these parts continue to soar with a third stakeswinner arriving last week in the shape of Impetuous.

The Mona Lisa winner joins Blue Diamond winner Miracles of Life and G2 winner Rebel Dane under the names of a More Than Ready mare.

It’s a similarly encouraging tale in the USA where More Than Ready mare More Than Pretty delivered the champion mare Kauai Katie.

Buyers are in no doubt as to More Than Ready’s strengths as a broodmare sire as evidenced on day 3 of the giant Keeneland September Yearling Sale.

Lot 360 in Book 1, a colt by Distorted Humor out of More Than Ready’s G2 winner and G1 Frizette runner-up Ready’s Gal sold for US$850,000 to Shadwell Estates.

That figure represents the second highest price for a colt on the day.

Ready’s Gal was sold herself at the 2006 Fasig-Tipton sale for US$750,000.

Her first foal is Machen, a G3 Derby Trial winner and one-time TDN Rising Star.
