The Stakes winning Mossman galloper Love Conquers All is set to resume on Saturday at Randwick in what may be a spring board to Winter Carnival riches.

Racenet.com.au reports the John Hawkes three-year-old colt is nominated for a 1200m open handicap on Saturday.  This will be his first run since being beaten half a length behind Graceful Anna in the $1 million Magic Millions Trophy at the Gold Coast in January.

“He has come back bigger and stronger but mentally he is probably still six months away from fully maturing,” co-trainer Michael Hawkes said.

Love Conquers All won a trial at Rosehill last week and is “pretty forward” according to Hawkes, with Saturday’s race providing a guide for where he will head to next.

“We’ll see how he goes first-up but he is nominated for all the major Brisbane sprints,” he said.

“The form around him looks pretty strong.”

Hawkes will head to Scone on Friday, hopeful of getting a dry track for Mentality, who is engaged in the Listed Scone Cup (1600m).

“You’ll see the best of him if he gets a dry track,” he said.

“He came through the Hawkesbury run well and did everything right but he just doesn’t let down if it is not rock-hard.”
