CASINO Prince mare Longport is set to swap her two Group 1 ‘silvers medals’ for  a ‘gold’ should she take out this weekend’s WATC Railway Stakes (1600m) in Perth.

Already a winner of close to $500,000, Longport has a sterling record in Group 1’s having contested four previously for two seconds, a fourth and a fifth at distances ranging from 1600m to 2400m.

Longport’s career highlight before Saturday is her win over Norzita, Jade Marauder and Dear Demi in the Group 2 ATC Tea Rose Stakes (1500m) at Randwick in the spring of 2012.

The Casino Prince mare returned to form for visiting Brisbane trainer Dan Bougoure in the last race of the Melbourne Cup carnival. The mare was purchased by clients of the Bougoure stable for $800,000 out of the Patinack Farm dispersal sale at the Gold Coast in June.

“She ran a good race behind Fontelina here last Saturday even though she didn’t like the slippery conditions,” Bougoure said following that race. “She was down in class today and was suited by the extra furlong.”

Longport is the fourth foal of Dolphin Street mare, Ocean Bridge’s, whose previous foal – Win For Wilson – won the 2009 ATC Breeders’ Plate (1000m).

Ocean Bridge’s Onemorenomore colt was third top price the 2012 Magic Millions National Weanling Sale selling for $200,000.
